Class of 2011
MD Student

“There’s something special about being a student at the School of Medicine. I had other choices for medical school, but I was drawn to the University of South Carolina because of the class size and the one-on-one interaction with faculty.

The learning environment really works well for me because I can glean more from lectures and the professors make it a point to work with each student individually. To the faculty, I am more than a medical student—I am Amberly Nesbitt who aspires to open a clinic in an underserved area in South Carolina. That’s the point—the faculty knows more about students than just their grades. They guide our education and thinking to see beyond our years as a medical student, but as doctors who will contribute to the health of society.”

Amberly received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of South Carolina. She was also a University of South Carolina Track & Field star, winning titles as a four-time All-American and 2006 NCAA Outdoor 100m Champion.
